Q: What does it mean to be a compostable product?
A:Compostable: Products that meet US ASTM Standards D6400 (Plastics) or ASTM D6868
(Packaging) or European Standard EN13432. Under composting conditions, a material is
considered compostable if it meets these 4 Requirements.
1. 90% Disintegration (passes through a 2mm sieve) within 12 weeks
2. 90% Biodegradation within 180 days
3. Does not reduce the value or utility of the finished compost (supports plant life).
4. Does not contain high amounts of regulated metals (heavy metals, etc)
